Current account - not with my current lenders

I'm about to go onto a DMP and so need to open an account that isn't linked to any of my current creditors who are
MBNA
HSBC
Halifax
Egg

I thought I'd be ok with Alliance and Leicester - but as I got to the end of the application it seems that they are run by MBNA. I'm afraid that opening an account with them would mean that they'd try to take my benefits that would be paid in. Would they do this - or would it be treated as a seperate account?
If they could, can anyone suggest another account?

I don't have a 'salary' but have an income of just over 12k through benefits, student allowance and maintenance (I have 3 children) I would prefer to have a cheque book account so that I can track my spending easier and ensure payments to schools for trips etc can be tracked, also if possible a switch card or similar so that I can continue to shop online (usually asda using promo codes that gives me free delivery & £5 off shopping bill)
I know it seems I'm asking a lot given my current situation, but I hope you understand my reasons.

we went to lloyds tsb and got account no prob, even got a cheque book (dont use) and overdraft if i wanted ( dont use and is note on account not to let me use it).
other posters have gone to CO-op. there was a thread a while ago about this. i'll try and find it for you and post the link!

MBNA do not run A&L. They only run the A&L credit card for them.
