Glad your little boy is on the mend. What you said about your grandad brought a wee tear to my eye :A*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -

Oh dear, I can sympathise. Might be worth a look on the preparing for winter thread on this board to see what might help keep warm on the cheap.
Electric blankets, fleeces on the couch, draught excluders and the like.0 -
Mardatha - sending warm thoughts your way!
Hope it gets all fixed soon.
Rosanna - hugs for you and your kitty - one of ours is 14, was feral and failing fast now it breaks my heart but at least I know she has had a good life with us.
Jedi - sending you hugs and will keep you all in our prayers - dont worry about not doing stuff with your DD (easier said I know) I bet she has had a blast staying at grandparents and will talk about for ages.
Have only glanced through posts as its been a very busy few days so sending hugs to everyone that needs them.
RANT ALERT - took DS13 for trainers today and was appalled to find that boys trainers stop at size 51/2 and my son needs a 6, meaning I had to pay adult prices but worse most styles adult sizes dont start till size 7!!! Do they think that boys simply skip a size?? He was so limited to choice and there was nothing at the cheaper end of the market so ended up with much more expensive trainers than I wanted him to have for PE.0 -
kidcat, I fully support your rant about kids sstuff in general. I do wish the government would pass a firm ruling on what constitutes a child. It can be 12 at a restaurant, 15 at the cinema, or just make it up as you go along no one gives a monkeys do-da. Drives me batty!0

kidcat Yup I remember exactly the same happening to me when my DS was around that age. And... he stayed a size 6 or 6.5 for blooming ages the little beggar. Think I had to do the same as you and get him ridiculously expensive ones. He has odd legs and is a bit mis-aligned in the feet area (can't remember what the orthotics man called it) so I handed over my credit card and forced a smile.*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Jedi - very glad little one is on the mend. We had a scare with grandson when he was a baby with the same thing so I know what it is like. Have to add that he is now 10, very tall for his age, well mannered, well adjusted and intelligent and there were no lingering after effects whatsoever.
Keep your chin up and count your blessings - everything will be OK0 -
Jedi I hope your little man is on the mend. My Ds had the same when he was 25 and that was scary enough but when its a babe its hell for you all. At least you have him safe with you. Im sure your daughter had fun with her grandparents even though they will have been putting on a brave face for her. Im sure our angels watch out when babies are sick and its a comfort to you to believe that.
Dgs is sleeping soundly upstairs while his mummy does a favour for some friends who have opened a darts club - good timing or what - anyway she is using her skills as a barmaid for them. She is supposedly on holiday but they have been great friends to her and she is happy to show her appreciation this way.
Have been burning pans lately so am on here waiting to see if the soda crystals have saved the 2 latest victims :rotfl: Got a tube of liquid glucose from Mr T today for 20p ...now if I can just remember what I wanted it for ...Clearing the junk to travel light

Jedi I hope you poor wee man is better soon. How scary for you all (()).
Drinkupretty keep your chin up. It is amazing how much helpand support you will bet on here.
Haribojunkie thanks for the plum jam recipe.
Went to see the GP today after yesterdays scare. What a waste of time. He took my bloodpressure said it was still high and told me I need to loose some weight (he is quite right on this point). No come back in 3 months and we wil check it again, no what's your family history like (and it's very bad) and not interested when I told him that I was on blood pressure tablets in my late 20's early 30's for high blood pressure . Not much in the way of preventative medicine or advice there.
The results on my thyroid blood test come back next week and I have made an appointment o see a different GP and will see how it goes from there.
My Kilner Jam pan has arrived today :j which is great as I have come away from work with lots and lots of damsons from one of my colleagues. At some point this weekend I will be making jam, chutney and damson gin. Have also got lots and lots of ripe tomato's so will be making pasts sauces as well.
Candle lit sending my thoughts to all who need them (())
