Rosanna, I am so sorry to hear about your puss. The OH still misses the Old Blind Boy even now. Perhaps a kitten now may ease the pain when the inevitable comes?

Sometimes its not just about the pet but what they represent.

    Thinking of you both xx

Roseanna - hugs, I'm sorry about your litle furry, it's so awful when we lose our animal companions, enjoy the cuddling time you have with her.

SDG - Happy Birthday! Enjoy your pressie, I'm so jealous, I drool over them too, maybe I'll print your post out and leave it lying round for my OH to find!

Well I would be having a busy day here if I could put DS down for more than 5 minutes but he's having a clingy day and a hungry one! Looks like I'll have to wait for OH to get back from work before I can get organised. Got a flying visit down southshire tomorrow to see BIL who has just come out of hospital s have to get everything ready, just taking DS though as DD is terrible in the car and not worth it for 1 night so my parents are coming to stay with her.

SDG, what a lovely sneaky way to get what you dreamed of, I love it when the family plots and plans like that -enjoy your day and your new 'girl toy'. I also got a new toy today part birthday and part to celebrate all those months of doing without - its a craft machine that cuts and embosses. Probably not exciting to most of you but I love it and I got a bargain (of course) with lots of free extra's.

Don't think I will get much done today other than playing but am a bit ahead, just waiting for the chutney to finish cooking. I had to buy 1 courgette but the rest came from stock, sad apples leftover got used and whoopsied stuff from weeks ago plus all the tiny red toms that I left to ripen.

Mardatha hope you are feeling better soon, we have a warm day here and I will send it over to you for the afternoon :)

Rosanna , cats are family too and its hard especially for your OH if he had a lousy childhood. I have a friend who had a bad Mum and he never had Xmas or birthdays but married into a wonderful O/S family. The first year his Mum-in-law gave him a single walnut as one of his gifts and he carried it home and put it on the mantel, after a few days his wife asked if he was going to open it -'he said no, why?' She told him it was a special walnut and when he opened it inside was a fiver folded up. It actually brought tears to the big mans eyes, he told her he was quite happy with the walnut but the fiver was wonderful and promptly gave it to her to make the housekeeping go further. When they had kids he made Xmas the most wonderful (though O/S0 time imaginable, their house was full of fairy lights and decorations - bless him.

Rosanna - sorry to hear about your cat. When I read your original post I wondered if it was somethng quite serious. A couple of weeks ago we had to take our cat to the vet - she also was eating well but losing weight. However in her case it was diabetes & there was no hope of recovery, so she had to be put to sleep. It is very quiet in the house - she was a very chatty little cat, a real character. She was a rescue cat, too. We miss her a lot,but are not ready to have another cat at the moment.
    (((hugs))) to you & OH

smileyt - where is Abakhan Fabric? Is it in the Northern Quarter? I know where Fred Aldous is - are they near each other?

I only get to M/C about 3 times a year, but like to use my time well!

Nuala - good to see you back!

Hi all and thanks for all the good wishes!

Happy Birthday SDG31000! :bdaycake: What a wonderful gift - and how clever and thoughtful of your family to arrange it!

Rosanna, so sorry to hear about your cat - am thinking of you and your OH. (((((hugs all round))))) By the way I think it's great to have a "staycation" - just think, you're supporting the economy and it's a far greener option too - no airmiles etc. I think it makes a lot of sense really and especially when you have special offers on. And you know you will be eating good food if you pack it yourself!

Hi Nuala :) lovely to see you back again. i listen to R.T.E in the afternoons and I really feel for people how difficult so many are having it, and still to come too.:( Take good care.x
What a lovely present SDG31000 :) Enjoy using it.
Have been enjoying all the interesting posts as always.
Thank you Margaret. I was just talking to my Auntie today and she said the stories on Joe Duffy's programme would have you in tears - I actually can't bring myself to listen. Hope things are ok for you these days?

I finally had my poached eggs and they turned out pretty well if I say so myself! :) I really wish I hadn't bothered order the poach pods now but they were very cheap and I will probably use them anyway.

It's been a lovely warm and sunny day here which was a nice antidote to the chill that's been in the air recently. I would love a few months like this before winter kicks in!

Right off, off to make a mug of cocoa - my current favourite way to get my chocolate fix without overdoing the calories. :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Roseanna, I'm so sorry to hear about the puss. We had one adopt us as soon as moved into this house and when she had to be put down.....I couldn't function for days. Hope you get through it better than I did.
Reading these posts sometimes makes me feel so inadequate - you lot'll be knitting your own tampons soon :rotfl:
