Have decided that after I'm back from my wee break in September I shall knuckle down and complete the Xmas preps so that I can lay on my sofa reading vampire novels and eating bon-bons whilst the less-foresightful are thrashing around the city centre in the cold and the rain.:rotfl: Gawd, anything not to be pummelled around in crowds.
Another vampire book fan. :j The crowds and expense is why by December I will have finished all my shopping for the C word and that includes food which I have delivered!

yay more vampire book fans :D

i have most of AR's and of course the more recent fad..... :o, my fave is of course the original and best :D

FYI on the "C" word, i start getting things in the sales, mainly aftershave and the like but for my dad i have to get the most obscure kitchenalia i can find, that he doesn't have! i'm really struggling for more things for him as i think i've gotten almost everything odd and extreme, from a fish descaler to mini blowtorch, corn on the cob holders to tomato knives, you name it we've got it!!

Jedi - I think you are doing the right thing, I have always had a party for my kids (barring illness) and I would never expect my guests to spend more than just a card and present, if I was taking them out I would expect that I would have to pay for all of them (so wouldnt even consider a day out), for my eldest who is 17 this yr I am considering paying for her and three friends to go to Alton Towers and I will drive them, I was thinking I was being cheeky by asking them to bring a packed lunch!! But to ask them to pay to go is ridiculous IMHO.

:oI'm quite partial to werewolves as well.:o

This has to be a secret just between us, OK, as I am a member of a book group. The have some seriously clever peeps in my book group and I am sort-of the Class Clown, as you might have suspected. But I have my pride and hide the trashy stuff when they come around to Shoebox Towers.

_pale_ They made us read Kafka once.:(:p:rotfl:I've almost made a full recovery.

    I love Christmas :snow_laug:snow_laug:snow_laug
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Don't tell anyone but I read Kafka.:o Had to do it for A level English years ago - read the Metamorphisis then read some of his others. Ploughed through the stories but they left me feeling a bit disorientated .

I love the vampire, werewolwes etc books as well especially Keri Arthur, Christine Feehan, Charlaine Harris and Kelley Armstrong. Read Bram Stoker when I was about 14 (not saying how many years ago) and got a taste for fantasy.

Have not even thought about Christmas yet but am going to do as much as I can online on amazon deals, halfcost, halfpriceperfumes and thebookpeople. I get out of breath and still tire easily so do not want to risk city centre shopping crowds if I can avoid it.

You are seriously clever, just not pretentious ;)

lol i'm team Vampire :P and thats purely from the books,

i think hubby despairs of my book collection, he isn't a big reader whereas i can devour a fat book (think last HP) in about 4-5 hours

i was very into terry brooks and bought a copy of i think the last of the second set of the shannara trilogies which was HB and signed, when i got about halfway through i realised about 100 pages had been repeated and then a section missed entirely, i sent it to the publishers and was sent back an unsigned one, i politely wrote back explaining i had no use for a HB that wasn't signed as i normally wait for PB and if they liked i'd send the book back to get it signed, they then sent me about £100 worth of books plus another copy signed and apologised for the misunderstanding!! :) they mad a lot of money off me in the following year tho :( (this was about 17 yesars ago eeek!!)

i'm far too into fantasy/sci-fi/crime/a little romcom and definitely some adventure

and i do try to be os and charity shop them but ours are not the best supplied so i wait for them to be on 3 for 2 and collect my points on them too at W

Can crafty people mention the :xmassmile word as they'll need support from us when making all their stock?

Then again, they've probably already done it over the summer:D
