.... Others, who have got rid of their dead machine like I have, will not appear on the official totals.
On the one hand, you could argue that you got rid of it due to it burning out at the beginning of the year; you could also argue ... where's *your* email re: the recall???? Not everyone would think to "google" - and you only did when your sister emailed you (NOT Bosch!)
If you strike now (e.g. *before* you get an email) and ask to know why a) you are still waiting to be officially informed
b) why, having been informally informed and having carried out independent research (Google) you now know that is it a recognised fault with that model - what are they prepared to do about it? (yes, even though you have removed the machine because it burnt out, which you now know appears to be a recognised fault) and for which you incurred removal and renewal costs.
You may get nothing at all - but then, you wouldn't if you don't contact them either, so nothing lost. But, they would still need to make a record of your machine being in the faulty group thus added to "official totals". And, just supposing, they did feel (as a good will measure, perhaps?) to offer something - even if just the removal costs - well, that is simply a bonus, not an expectation. Nonetheless, you should make a point of letting them know: if not for complaint figures, but so the company itself knows the extent of the problem.0 -
Camping gear - try your local TJ Hughes - there are all closing down but ours was well stocked with great camping stuff - from flash lights, tables, rucksacks -60-70% off.
DD2 bought a kingsized Slumberdown 13.5 tog quilt from our TJ Hughes - reduced from £43.00 to £27.99. . . . it was marked 20% off so off we trotted to the till with our bargain. At the till, they added in the additional discount (not marked on it anywhere) and it got reduced further to £11.33 :T:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Our ozpig is our power cut backup and I have been looking for jaffles for ages. I found them in lakeland sale ie a burger iron (pie iron) and a pannini press,
Pure Lewis Carroll :rotfl: 'twas brillig.
Trans: Our Australian boar amuses us during power cuts and I have been looking for a chocolate iced biscuit/cake type treat for him for a very long time. I found them reduced in small shop in the Lake District, together with a steam iron which also reheats pies and a device for printing Italian newspapers.0 -
3v3 thanks I've popped a post on the green fingers board as I forget that is there, I don't want to dig in the dark lol
No, I can't say darkness-digging is my preferred option either (slug-time! YUK!!!) I like the Greenfingered board, so I shall be interested in their replies
*prays I haven't misinformed re: my instincts ... may need a street-cred make-over by morning: if I don't surface by tomorrow lunchtime ... I've dug myself in with the spuds to monitor their progress to give a more "informed" opinion ... move over King Edward and stop poking Maris Piper!*0 -
Charis thank you for clearing that uop for us - I must say I was originally confused :rotfl:
Note to all O/S'ers do not drink any liquid whilst reading this thread as you can cause severe damage by showering your keyboard - as many of you have found before!:pClearing the junk to travel light

I've also got the brass buttons from various naval uniforms that my grandad and dad wore and shirt studs!
They'll probably go down the tip when I'm gone:(
I inherited a quantity of AFS (Auxiliary Fire Service) buttons in a button box. I offered them to a museum in London (found on the Internet) where AFS uniforms are displayed. They were gratefully received because they can patch up the uniforms they are given but had no source for buttons. Maybe there's a museum somewhere that would be glad to display your granddad's buttons on a uniform?
There has to be an OS use for shirt studs but I can't think of one of the top of my head.0 -
I did my weekly shop in Marks and Spencers today :eek::eek::eek:
Before you all die of shock - there was method in my madness. We didn't really need much and i'd popped in to M&S to pick up some school trousers I'd ordered (in the sale with cashback through quidco), so i thought i'd just pick up the bits i needed there as it was so expensive i was unlikely to buy anything we didn't need. I think it worked, some things weren't too bad actually, i got some whoopsied milk, a deal on cooked meat and some veg, however i did succumb to the £10 for 2 meal deal - and even that fed 3!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
or you could sell your buttons and studs on ebay!!Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

Our ozpig is our power cut backup and I have been looking for jaffles for ages. I found them in lakeland sale ie a burger iron (pie iron) and a pannini press, they are ordered as they are the same as ones costing 3x the price
kittie, would love to know what you think of your ozpig as we have just been given a 25th wedding anniversary present of WONGA which we were planning to use to treat ourselves to one of these... Also, which "bits" do you find the most useful?
We nearly bought one of these a couple of years ago and didn't - and the price has skyrocketed since. DH complained to the company about how exorbitant the price now is and they told us it was because of the exchange rate, which means that they can't now import them for the price they used to. However, they have offered us a 4-quart dutch oven "free" if we buy one
I'd be really interested to know what you think - we saw one demonstrated at the county show and thought it looked brilliant, but it would be nice to hear from someone using one "at the coal face" as it were!0 -
We're heading off for a few days break and I think I'm finally organised.
The hotel is paid for with birthday money I saved thinking it would be nicer to make a memory than buy another piece of jewellery. Every meal out will be contributed to with vouchers from various websites and the theme park we're going to will be paid entirely by clubcard vouchers.
I've packed plenty of fruit, juice and biscuits to stop the snack monsters wanting to go to cafes all the time and a flask for OH the coffee addict. The neighbours are looking after the animals in return for free eggs and a few jars of jam. All in all we're getting a well earned treat for very little and I can't wait.
I've even just conditioned my hair and polished my nails with free samples from a magazine and while away i'll pop into Ikea to get my free duvet set with a voucher in my magazine (which itself is paid for with clubcard vouchers)
Off to check if my bosch dishwasher has been recalled.
And it case that all sounds very smug and holier than thou, I can in no way be held responsible for how much money I will spend in a certain garden centre I am planning on visiting while away :rotfl:;)
