Insurance and Fronting

It's normally traditional for the registered keeper to insure a private car and to declare them as the main driver if the driving is equal. Fronting only occurs where there is a substantial difference in risk - if you and you partner are of similar ages and occupations then there is no problem.
For the last 20 years my mum has been driving my dads registered car and my dad has been driving my mums registered car. All no problem as they are both crusties and both cars are insured under the same policy. The man without a signature.0 -
That was very common a few year ago viking.
When my mun and dad only had one car it was my dads but insured with my mum as the policyholder.
When they then got two cars they ended up in the same situation as you are describing.
Though back in the seventies and early eighties i don't think it was considered fronting if they were a married couple.
I think the reason the insurance companies now look at it this way is that now young deivers are regarded as such a high risk, or rather such a high source of revenue.
I remember my first insurance premium at 17 and it was only about £400, with the average premium about half that, at least where I live.
Now young drivers are getting quotes twn or twenty times higher than the typical average quote.
When you consider that most young drivers have third party fire and theft and very often end up hitting a wall, fence or tree, therefore very often not costing the insurer anything then I think you can see what a cashcow the young drivers are.0
