very cheap place to stay

Hi all, planning on visiting london for a few days around 9th September with hubby and kids for my fortieth. Have quite a good deal on the train from Wales, around £130 using railcard. However I am having trouble finding somewhere cheap to stay. We are two adults and four children ranging from ages four to twelve so would probably need two rooms. Staying for two nights and travelling back Sunday. Planning on doing the museums etc. If anyone could help with cheap places to stay it would be fantastic thanks. Have already searched online but prices are prohibitive!.

Can you give an indication of what sort of price you'd be prepared to pay and where you've already searched ?

Unfortunately, Fridays and (more particularly) Saturday nights are always the most expensive nights for Travelodges etc

Looking at the Holiday Inn 2-4-1 offer link, (just enter a two night stay and the rate shown is averaged over the two nights ), entering two rooms for two adults and four children for 9th - 11th brings up Holdiay Inn Expresses at London Newbury Park for £37.50 per room per night or Docklands for £49.50 a night (both of which I think will include breakfast) or the Holiday Inn at Brent Cross for £49.50 a night

    http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/c/1/content/dec/teaser/6c/1/en/lp/emea/twofor.html?rateCode=IDEX1&cm_mmc=DCE-_-PCES070609-_-EMEN-_-UKLEISURE

so the cheapest option would be Holdiay In Express at Newbury Park, £150 for two rooms for two nights including Breakfasts

thanks for the reply Poohsticks( my kids love that game!). I have searched travelodge, travelsupermarket and google. The £150 price tag is not too bad, doubt I will get anything cheaper. I noticed that if I renew my railcard which will expire soon(free one) that I get a years membership to yha free so I will try them also. Thanks for the help!
