National Insurance number incorrect on payslip

I changed jobs and noticed once I received my payslip that HR (who are offshore) had entered my NI number incorrectly
They had just made one error with the first digit. I contacted them to get this changed but not sure what happens about
the fact that it was incorrect on the payslip. Will the firm correct this with the NI people or do I need to sort it?

Keep telling your HR until your correct NINO appears on your payslip.

The HR might tell contributions agency but they might not, you could always contact them and let them know yourself.

I would also contact them yourself the sooner the better, similar thing happened to my Uncle and he assumed his work had sorted it out, years later when he was about to retired he noticed error hadn't been corrected.
