House with two boilers?

Hi

I'm looking at buying my first house. I've found a house that I'm thinking of making an offer on - 3 bed 1930s semi - but there is an oddity that it has two boilers. One in the bathroom which apparently runs the central heating and one under the stairs that apparently runs the hot water.

Both look old but not ancient (10+ years?). I think they are both combi boilers (no hot water tank visible anywhere).

This seems like an unusual configuration to me. Apart from the costs of getting two boilers serviced rather than one, etc, is there any disadvantage to this setup? If you were looking to replace the boiler(s) at some point in the future would you be better off replacing them both with only one boiler or is it likely that the plumbing for this would be prohibitive?

Obviously this sort of info would be useful in considering my offer price, say if it's going to need a few thousand quid's worth of work in a couple of years.

Thanks

One will be a Water heater and the other will be a heat only boiler for the heating I would think.

Very common situation years ago before combi's came into being and became any good.

There is nothing wrong with this set up, other than costing you 2 services a year.

To replace both with a new combi would cost around £2000-£2500. Perhaps you could knock this off the asking price?

it was fairly common in the larger detached houses.
    rare in a semi though.
