I booked tickets from Lichfield Trent Valley to Euston this coming Friday (24/07/11). Unfortunately in the meantime, the Coop have cancelled my debit card as there was (a separate) incident of fraudulent activity.
I looked on LM's website for information on how to collect my tickets and found their FAQs page. I contacted them as advised, asking how I can collect my tickets in this event and received the following response:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting London Midland Web Support.
If you are still in possession of the original payment card, this will collect the tickets whether it has been de-activated or not by your card provider as it is the physical card that is read.
Should this not be possible you will have to purchase new tickets for travel as without the original card the tickets cannot be collected.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Shouldyou have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Natalie
I have the original card, but I have cut it up, as advised by the bank therefore it cannot go into the card reader. I have an identical situation with a booking using East Coast and I can collect my tickets with photo ID and proof of purchase with them, but London Midland seem to be saying that I should buy new ones. Is this correct? I have emailed them for a response but had no answer. In the meantime I can keen to understand whether or not they can do this?
Thanks for any advice,
Paul

Glue the card back together again?
It does say when you buy the tickets that you must use the same card to collect them - most places insist on this.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I used to collect my LM tickets at the ticket office, along with my card and reservation number. They just needed to see the card. Perhaps see if you can do this too?
Failing this, find out if Co-Op can do a chargeback for goods & services not received?0 -

Pathetic to not have any alternative though, what happens if you book online then your wallet gets nicked before you have chance to collect ?0 -
My friend's mum bought tickets for her online and she was able to collect them at a ticket machine with just the booking number (have to put any card in first and then it will ask for the number)0

i did this with eurostar tickets. booked well in advance to get a cheap fare and only realised the day before going that i didn't have the card any more (it had expired and been replaced). i turned up with the printed confirmation plus my passport, drivers licence and a new credit card and they were fine. i'd go to the station to try and collect the ticket from customer services. they should be able to type in the card number to retrieve the booking. speaking to a person might get a more sensible response!
btw - i assume you mean friday 29th?:happyhear0 -
if you use any card and then having booking number it will work trust me , i had same problem and got really upset and the ticket office women went use another card
