Yorkshire Bank Debit Card

Hi there,

I have received a replacement debit card from Yorkshire Bank as my old one had expired. I thought that I will be receiving the new grey debit mastercard, but I have been given another crappy blue maestro card, this time without the cheque guarantee. Have I been downgraded without me knowing.

Any advice appreciated

thanks jb000

All banks did stop for good the provision of cheque guarantee facilities by the end of last month.

So, you’re having the same card as before.

I think the op is referring to the fact that most YB customers are receiving a Mastercard debit rather than a maestro. I don't know what type of account you have, but I've read on here that Readycash customers are still going to receive a Maestro card, if that's any help.

I have the signature account, apparently which is one of the top accounts. I know the readycash cards are green and the other accounts did have blue cards, but I thought that they ditched these for the grey MasterCard debit. I didn't know that they ceased cheque guarantee!
So if all they are offering me is a useless cheque book on a supposedly premium account, I may as well downgrade to the readycash and save myself £12.50 a month as I rarely take advantage of the other benefits.

    Many thanks for replies. jb000
  • Go into your branch, request the Debit Mastercard, they will perform a simple credit check, if you pass they will send you a debit mastercard.
