Anyone use Direct Line for Recovery?
I'm currently with AA Recovery, due for renewal in a couple of months and their price is £89.
However noticed that Direct Line do a Recovery Service and notice that their Recovery Plus which seems the same (possibly better) option than AA is only £59 per month.
Anyone used them? Tbh, I've been with AA for the past few years.....................still never used them!!

I've been with Direct Line Rescue for a few years. They sub-contract out to local firms and on the two occasions I had to use them they were fine.0

I was interested to see your post and thought you might find my experience this morning helpful. Last year I joined the AA for Roadside Assistance and it cost around £30. I've just received notification that it is due for renewal at a price of £53! I've never used it and, after looking at the moneysupermarket.com website thought I'd try and negotiate it down. I rang the AA freephone number, used the option 4 listed as 'Are you thinking of leaving the AA' (funnily enough they answered immediately) and said I was thinking of moving to the RAC as they were cheaper. The chap immediately said he would see what he could do and within a minute offered it at £35. I was really pleased but decided to push it a bit so said the RAC did it for £28 and that I'd stay with the AA if he could match that price. He said, 'Alright then', and the deal was done! So easy to save £25 with a one minute (free) phone call. Why not give it a go? :j0

As has been said Direct Line subcontract and only as good as the firm they use. My son had to wait 2 1/2 hours. I would rather pay a little extra for RAC / AA recovery."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I was a member of Direct Line's Recovery service for a couple of years and had to use them twice. As others have said, they use a network of sub-contractors and on the 2 occasions I used them, they were excellent. I'm now an AA member, and have used them once. On that occasion, due to demand, they also used a sub-contractor (the same one that Direct Line used) and I had no problems with them.
It is always worth shopping around, I have just saved £70 on my AA renewal fee by phoning them, and got 12 months free Home Emergency Response cover from them too.0 -
Don't they just resell Green Flag?0

I've had to wait longer than that for the RAC sometimes, and sometimes they still subcontract it out.
Most of the subcontractors are ok, some are muppets, same as some RAC/AA drivers are muppets but most are ok.
I don't really see much in it to be honest. At least with the local ones you're supporting local independent businesses.0 -

Thanks for that, I looked and it does seem the same type of layout.
Although now I can get the cover for £47.
