How to measure my awkward shaped hallway for carpet?

Hi
I'm abut to buy some carpet for my hall and living room, but my hallway is a weird shape.
I have drawn a floor plan and the hallway is highlihted in red. What is the best and most cost effective way to measure it?

I just thought to buy a standard 4m wide carpet that is 5.3m long? WHich means I will have a far bit of carpet leftover but I cannot really see any other way of doin it? :o

By the way, I am buyin the carpet online so will not have anyone to come and measure for me, the measurements are accurate and I have rounded it up.

I've always just looked for carpet I like and when I've found something, I've asked them in the shop to come out and measure up for me.

I wouldn't measure myself incase it was wrong x

I'm not buying from a shop.
I have the right measurement lengths, but wondered if the way I'm going to order the carpet is the most cost effective way.

Who's gonna fit it for you? Would they not know how to measure up for you?

I'd go with that. Show a fitter or supplier the room drawing and dimensions and see what they say. Bit cheeky, but you could always go into a carpet shop for a quote and see what size carpet they say you'd need. :)

Me :D I can't afford for someone to fit it for me, I've fitted carpets in bedrooms before, I'm sure I will manage :o :rotfl:

As most carpet comes in 4m wide rolls and assuming you don't want a join you are going to need a piece 4m x 5.3m.

Are you having different carpet in the living room?

Thank you, that is what I thought but I just wanted to double check :D
Would I be able to get it cheaper if I had a join? :p

Assuming that you've included the carpet going into the doorways in your measurements you could buy 3 metre wide carpet. Failing that you're stuck with 4 metre and more waste. Trying to do it any other way would mean a join and the pile not going the same way so it would end up looking awful. Just make sure when you're measuring to allow a few centimetres extra for trimming.

There aren't enough measurements to tell;).

Get some squared paper and try laying out the sections you would need on that. TBH if you aren't a fitter I wouldn't try a join because it could look awful if any pattern didn't match perfectly / the 'nap' of the carpet ran in a different direction / you didn't make the join perfectly.

A decent carpet fitter will be able to use half the carpet and joint it, may work out cheaper
