What's my best option? I have a lump sum to invest for my nephew (2 yrs old). What's the best thing for me to do?

You contradict yourself. Title says "savings". Post says "invest".

You could consider opening a Junior ISA when they coume out later this year. You could invest the money in the markets. AS with 15 or more years before the money may be needed, shares will outperform over this period of time.
I like investment trust savings plans for kids. You could start saving 50 quid a month (or less or more) into investment trusts for them (acct is in your name with the child as the designee). I have done ths for my 3 boys. You can of course invest lump sums if you prefer.0
