hi, im at my wits end hoping someone on here can help me. i split from my partner two years ago, my home that we had togther is just in my name and mortgage is still being paid by myself 2 years after we broke up. i have two children, a boy and girl. i dont live at the home and havent done since we broke up. i am struggling to keep up on mortgage payments on the home and pay my own bills and live. my ex has been to see if we can get help with mortgage but said she has been refused because i am the childrens father and have a vested interest in the property. ive told my ex we will have to sell and she threatens me with `i will have to rent somewhere now then, and you will have to pay childsupport and mortgage till house is sold!.` i really cant afford to pay mortgage and childsupport and try to live myself. id be really gratefull for any advice thanks.

sell the house and pay her child support, you can stop paying the mortgage as a last resort if you need to while you sell.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

As its your house why cant you live in it and pay the mortgage and your ex get her own house? I know not ideal for the children to move but the house is in your name and you cant afford to pay that house and another one for you to live in also0

In theory she is correct, if you were going through the CSA just now they would assess child support at 20% of your net income and ignore mortgage payments (as you have an interest in the property)
If you are paying both today then there is no difference
Agree with karenx, is there any reason you cannot move back when she moves out to save on your own living costs?
I would be wary of stopping paying the mortgage as this could have a long term affect on your credit rating. Maybe speak to your lender and see if they will allow you to move to interest only whilst it is up for sale0
