Flat Battery

I had a CD on in the car for 20 minutes while washing the car today. Now the battery is flat.

I had a lot of trouble with the battery last winter when we had the cold and snow but it has been fine since.

Is this a sign that the battery should be replaced for a new one once and for all?

Currently got it on charge again.

20 minutes with the stereo on and its dead? I presume its not a super duper 20,000 watt boot full
of amplifiers type of stereo then thats bad.

Get a new battery ASAP before it leaves you stranded.

Unknown. Battery came with the car when bought second hand 2 years ago.

Think a new battery is in order.

    Thanks all. :)
  • Being tight, I'd get it tested first.

Could also be the alternator not charging it right or something drawing power off the battery when the car's not in use (MK2 astra boot light was a good one).

Maybe the cars !!!!!! filter kicked in to save itself from a poor taste in music? ;):p

Seriously though, a battery in good condition should power a normal car stereo for several hours with no issue.

The battery in my shed did this, after a bump start and a long run it seemed fine.

One morning a week later it was very hesitant to start but eventually did, few days after that it died completely again.

New battery and it's fine - I shouldn't have ignored it the first time(s) because it cost me a day's wages due to being at the other end of the country from the office.
