Changing jobs

I have accepted a new job which is great and I am happy about . I will be earning more than I do now .

I currently receive housing ben and council tax Ben as well as WTC and CTC . Now that I will be earning more I expect these payments to reduce.

My question is how soon do you inform of changes the first day of working or first pay cheque ?

Reason I ask is that I currently get paid weekly from my current job and new job pays monthly ,I am worried that as I am starting new job in the middle of the month I will have missed the payroll cut off point leaving me unpaid for 6 or 7 weeks . With reduced benefits and tax credits things will be a real struggle to pay rent and other bills

Any advice much appreciated
Thanks

I'd inform them now, asap, so your claim can be amended as soon as possible. If you wait until your first pay cheque and you don't expect to be paid for six weeks, and your LA has a backlog, it could be ages before the claim is amended. You could end up with a substantial overpayment.

Best to tell them now to minimise the overpayment.

Would be a very company that did not pay you on the monthly pay run regardless of how many day you gave been there.
You will be paid along side every other employee on the monthly payroll one day or 4 weeks of work you will get paid.

    Thanks for replies

I will inform them as soon as I start new job and sign contract which will be in the next few weeks

I'm more worried about the rent being paid as I know that HB can take ages to sort out.

I am hopeful that benefit and tax credit payments won't change too much as I will only be earning £2000 more per year . I am also hoping that I will have a bit more cash in my pocket but I am unsure

    Thanks again
