Husband on SSP any extra help available?

My husband had an accident at work and had to have an operation, he has been signed off sick for 4 weeks. I am currently not working so we rely heavily on his wages..we do get Child tax credits and a little bit of housing benefit but his ssp wont be enough to cover the rest of the rent.
Anyone know if we can get extra help during this time? Desperately dont want to get behind with rent and bills and dont have any savings to live off.
Thanks

I was signed off sick for 2 weeks a couple of years ago when my husband was a full time dad and my landlord told me I could claim HB for the 2 weeks.
    He was right.
