Self stick border lifting?

Hi there
I recently painted half the wall in my hallway in a silk paint (for ease of cleaning). The other half (top half) is matt emulsion. I have a self adhesive border covering the join. The border sticks fine to the matt, but lifts at the edges where is sits on the silk.
Is there anything I can do to seal/glue the edge so it won't lift? Ideally something that isn't going to be too messy.
