Online Subscription Question

Hi everyone, this is my first post, so go easy on me...

I am wondering about an experience I've recently had with an online subsciption. The subscription was handled entirely online and all went through fine.

But when I went to cancel my account there was no online option for cancelling. To cancel you have to call their call centre.

Does anyone know if it is seen as "fit and proper" to offer online subscription which can then only be cancelled on the phone?

I look forward to your thoughts, as I think this practise is wrong. If the transaction can be started online, then surely the fact it can't be cancelled online is incorrect?

    I agree that it is 'wrong' and you should be able to cancel online, however it is quite common practice in some areas.

    Both loveFilm and creditexpert by experian do this.

    I think it normal occurs where they offer a free trial (as in the two above). In hope you will not have time/chance to cancel your subscription before first payment.

    I doubt it is an error by the company, more a well thought out plan. Also they can attempt to convince you to stay on the phone.
