How do you motivate yourself?

I was a bit like that despite some great wins. Was obsessed with it for a year, then the novelty wore off a bit as I got into other forums, etc. I've now found I can combine everything and, even though sometimes the comps feel like a chore, I'm enjoying doing them again.
Do you do them in the order they come up, or in end date order? I did the first one, but I think it was that which wound me up and made it all feel a bit endless. I now do them in date end order and find it's much easier. I'm currently on around 28th so know I'm a bit ahead of myself. If it means I don't do them for 3 days, I can then just do that day's and still be on top of them. I do have to accept the fact I miss some days and some comps, but I seem to cope better with that generally.
I see it as a bit of a job extension now and go home to hubby and say I'm up to date on comps, or that I'm say 3 days ahead. Even getting a 'well done' sometimes makes it feel like you've achieved something.
I don't think it's about the winning - I think it's about routine, and a sense of 'work'. If you win something, fantastic! We all live in hope! But the buzz of a win, I find, goes pretty much as soon as you've put the phone down, or told everyone. I currently need to book two nights away in a fab 5* London hotel. It's something I'll look back on really fondly, I know... had a night away earlier this year and it was absolutely fantastic made even better by the fact it was all free and that I'd own it, but it's not something in itself that makes me want to keep comping. It's almost like getting a bonus from work. You don't do the job for the bonus, you do the job because you have to, and the bonus is, well, a bonus!
Jx2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Yeah that is true I do think of it like a job that needs to be done, and a win is an exciting bonus. I agree also a win is great feeling for a moment then I am onto the next. I will moan to my mum, and be like " on I not had a win for ages" she will reply " but you only won something the other day" lol. I just love the whole chase of "winning".2015 Big wins: luxury 7 night holiday in sharm el sheikh, theatre tix, £123, IPad Air 16gb, Night in London hotel celebjuicetix :, Portable dvd playerT

I know exactly how you feel and don't necessarily think that steady winning means you are automatically more motivated. I've had weeks where I've had 10+ wins and, when I've sat down that same weekend to comp, I've given up after entering about 10 and then done no more for a couple of weeks or even longer
At other times, I can enter loads easily. I now just enter comps when I feel like it and don't get bothered by it if I can't be bothered08 wins £3000+ :j09 wins £4408:j2010 (6 months off) £2004:j2011 £10,003 :j 2012 - £6013 :j2013 wins £8500 :j 2014 £5530 so far....0 -

good luck with your allotment, we had one for a long time till we moved to a new place last year, it takes a lot of time up but is very rewarding

I'll try & keep up but if it's too much I'll post a list of sites that I often post from & see if others will take up the slack.I know we do not have posting rights as such but it seems a shame to see comps not posted when members move on.
I've been on the waiting list for years & was offered a plot in April but turned it down as it was in such a state & I had been tipped the wink that a better plot was about to vacated. It's got a shed & greenhouse insitu so hopefully it will work out.
I know some will be keen to see the back of me on here but I try my best to keep on top of the sites :-)
Cheers for the tips.0 -
Good luck with the allotment weeowens.
I have a small vegetable plot but manage to grow lots off salad stuff, loads of herbs, beans, onions, garlic, chillies and squash. Saved a fortune in lettuce alone ( I grow at least six different varieties).
Look forward to hearing about your crops.Be Lucky Everyone0 -

Our back garden has runners & fine beans plus herbs but I fancy a bigger move.I love seasonality with food so hope it works out especially on the beetroot & salads.0 -

i'm not sure who/what you mean by
"I know some will be keen to see the back of me on here"
but i think/know you'll be missed by loads including me, you do a great job keeping up posting all the comps,
i wish you all the best but also hope you'll still find some time for us on here xxplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.

I can't even imagine how the lovely people find time to post and enter!
It seems totally inadequate to just press the 'thanks' button and then post a 'thank you' when we win. People are sooooo grateful for everyone that posts comps. :A0
