Digital tv reception

Hi,
Looking for some aerial advice.
Until yesterday I had a CRT TV which received digital TV OK.
I have now switched to a Samsung LCD TV and my reception has gone a bit dodgy- seem to get the BBC and HD channels OK, but other channels (eg ITV, channel 4 are not received at all).
I don't think its the TV as I have tried watching through a digibox and get the same problems.
Our aerial is currently in the loft- I expect its a few years old- we have lived her 2 years and the previous owners had Virgin so could be 10 years upwards. Cable length is probably 20 metres (aerial cable goes under carpet round edge of living room).
I live in what should be a good signal area (5 miles from Sutton Coldfield transmitter).
I have tried a booster which didn't help at all.
My options seem to be:
- Wait for the full switchover in September which will apparently significantly improve strength.
- Buy a new aerial for the loft (presumably I just plug the aerial lead in to the new aerial).
- Get an external aerial- I would really prefer not to do this (given I'm in a strong signal area, I assume it shouldn't be necesary).
Any advice much appreciated- saw this aerial in Screwfix- if I put this in my loft, would it solve my problems

Is there any chance it could be a TV fault?
Thanks
