tesco opticians order

Options
Hi

Ordered glasses instore from tesco yesterday. Phoned the store today to discuss the posibility of amending or cancelling the order. They told me this was not possible and cancellation can only be done upto 1 hour after ordering. I think this is somewhat disappointing as they take 10 days to get the order ready anyway.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks

It might well take 10 days for the glasses to get delivered to the store, but there is a possibility that the manufacturer has already started making them.
Tesco may well send the specifications directly via e-mail and the makers might have already started the manufacture.

I'm sure I've read elsewhere on here there's a no-quibble money-back guarantee on everything at Tesco, which can be used on products from the opticians. It might be worth a forum search

Im not so sure...from the options help page on tesco.com...

    What is your refund policy?

If you are not satisfied with your glasses, please return them with the case and all packaging within 14 working days of the date stamped on your invoice. We'll give you a refund or alternatively you can exchange your glasses for a new pair of the same value. We do not offer refunds for the cost of postage and packaging. See our terms and conditions for full details. This refund policy is unique to purchases via Tesco.com and does not apply to purchases made at Tesco Opticians.

    But then they say ...

What should I do if I realise I've made a mistake when ordering?

Contact us immediately (by phone or email) to let us know. If you contact us within 24 hours we may be able to cancel your order as the lenses will not have been made yet. You can then place a new order with the correct prescription. After that it may be too late because the lenses have already been made.

But thats for online orders, I would imagine in store is different as the other posters have said, the order is probably imeediately sent to the supplier.

I've found the post I referred to here unfortunately, it's 5 years old and Tesco seem to change their policies monthly.

Thanks for your replies. I've been told to ring the store manager tommorrow but chances are it's too late to amend the order at this point.

On a Tuesday, I was told my glasses would be 10 days too but I got a call on the Thursday to say they were ready! When I went in to collect them, I said I was amazed at the speed and they said their computers automatically send orders to the factory every hour or something but it means there is only a one-hour window to amend an order.
  • Totally dissapointed in Tesco Optitions, feel I have been ripprd off
once you pay they don't want to know you,
at the store in Accrington, I asked about the new glasses lenses, and was told they would not be any thicker than my existing pair so I placed an order, 2 for 1 sounds great !!
The glasses arrived with lenses so thick they looked like they had come off bottom of a milk bottle, the manager informed me I could have thinner lens fitted for an extra £80 each pair , his attitude was like he didn't want to be bothered and was told no chance of a refund !!
I rejected the glasses immediately, now after six months of sending letters and phone calls, totally fed-up, I have given in and had to pay a re-glazing charge ..
the signs oll over the store ask HOW DID WE DO? = 'xxxx'
