I really love the winter weather and have decided if the snow will not come here then we will go to the snow.
My question is: has any MSE'rs been away over christmas that has snow and of course that does not cost the earth.
1 week, 2 adults and 1 child going approx 23rd or 24th Dec 07
Any advice would be good
many thanks

We went to Chamonix two years ago - brill time with great snow. Try gochamonix.com for some nice comfortable, cosy and spacious family accom.
Here's the kill or cure for a cheap deal - get your flights as soon as they are released - I mean within the hour!!!!!!!!!!
However..... Alps / Pyrenees snow has been very conspicuous this year by its absence.... still not much as of now - non due till the end of the first week in jan 07 -0 -
Have a look at Edmonton in Canada.
They have West Edmonton Mall (biggest shopping Mall in America/Canada)
Or, Denver, Colorado ... they virtually always have snow0 -

We want to go to Colorado next Christmas to visit friends. Best flight prices? No idea where to look or whether to leave it to the last minute or book far ahead? How do you find newly-released flights?0 -
I spent last year and will be spending next year with my boyfriend where he lives in Banff, Alberta. It's totally magical and even though the temperature can drop very low it's different from the cold that we have here as there isn't any damp so the cold doesn't get into you in the same way! I love dog sledding the best of all!
By far the best place for flights is http://www.canadianaffair.com:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
We went to Lapland for this Christmas. It was great. We left Christmas eve and came home on the 27th. I booked it around 4 to 5 weeks before we left with first choice and paid £1300 for 2 adults and 1 child. Some people had paid nearly £3000 for the same holiday because they booked in February!
Hotel was full board and there was husky rides snowmobiles and sleigh rides as tasters included. There was also cookie decorating and a visit to Santa's house. My son was happy just tobogganing all the time. All the kids just played outside till really late on their own. They were all wrapped up in snow suits and really safe.
It was my first snow holiday and it has definitely given me the taste for another.0 -
Try Westendorf in Austria. A friend of mine goes there every Christmas for Skiing, but there is enough to do there if you don't want to Ski. The Ryan Air flight cost £19 return this year and the half board accomodation, just £12 per night. The accomodation was found on a back packing site, look at ski holiday deals and the price will soar. If you would be happy just going up the cable car for lunch in the mountains, there is a special lift pass price for non skiers."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0

Sauxe D'oulx in a bed and breakfast. Best snow in Europe at the moment. Not a rip off place at all (prices on par with say, Pizza Express), lots of apres ski and a great way to spend Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve. OK, it's not Verbier, but it's no longer the brits-on-the-!!!! centre it used to be. What's not to like?0
