I am a relatively new money saver, but have already got £35 out of 1st Direct, BOGOF tickets to Alton Towers and today got a Free hair cut (Good Housekeeping mag - forum tip).
I am so pleased with the new 'do' that i had to come on and say THANKS! It's nice to have someone on the side of consumers - love the site and I tell EVERYONE I know about it!

I too am fairly new to this site and would like to say a big thank you to Martin. I bought the Money Diet book back in November and have been visiting the site since then.
So far I have saved hundreds of pounds, here are a few examples;
Changed my house & contents insurance saving around £250 p.a. I had previously been insured through my mortgage provider, what a rip off.
Negotiated a lower fixed rate on the mortgage for 2 yrs with a net saving of around £400
Have paid off some debts with ridiculously high APR's using the advice from Martin and people in the forums saving perhaps £100 on interest charges.
By reading the Chat Forums and the Money Diet I have now changed my lifestyle completely. Most of the debt is now paid off, already I feel much better and far less stressed and I feel I am gaining control of my finances for the first time in years. I am spending only what I feel is necessary with no impulse buying, shopping around for food and using own brands etc.
I am keeping records of expenditure for food and a separate account of everyday spending just to see where the money goes.
My bank current account is with one of the big 4 high street banks but as I only have a low guaranteed income I am not really able to take advantage of the A&L Premier Plus account which requires £1000 to be paid in per month. However, I have set up an e-Saver account with my bank, running alongside the current account. This way, with the benefit of online banking, I can easily shift surplus cash to the saver account to gain interest and back again to the current account as required. The saver account pays 4.4% gross I think. Over the year this should make quite a difference.
Even though my income is fairly low I feel that I am now gaining control and never again will I go back to my old "buy now pay later" way of life.
Once again I would like to thank you Martin as without this site and the book I doubt if I would have managed it anything like so easily, if at all.
Regards

HCMIX,
I tell everyone I know about the site too, and Martin's book also, if they don't happen to have access to the internet readily available.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
