I was told point blank in Comet that there are no video senders that work fully with Telewest (ie I can recieve the picture but will not be able to change channel from my bedroom)

I then went to Maplin who tried to sell me a box for £100 assurring me it definately works fully with Telewest and i will be able to zap channels.

So which is it? Does anyone have a fully functioning Telewest (make on box is Pace) and Video sender set up?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Apparently they all work with Sky and NTL, but Telewest is different somehow.

I think the Telewest boxes remote controls work on a different frequency or standard to other boxes that cannot be transmitted by the standard video senders.

Telwest boxes do not use standard IR signal controls, they use IRDA signals which I believe are not compatable with Video senders.
  • I have a telewest Pace box, controlled by my Tivo and it works fine. Given that the Tivo is something like 3 or 4 years old I'm sure somebody must have built a sender capable of working with telewest by now.

Anyway, NTL use the same Pace boxes as TW:confused:
