I always fly Aberdeen > Amsterdam and then on to wherever. Remember you can buy Duty Free in UK airports as long as you have your onward boarding pass to your final destination outside Europe. I generally find booze is cheaper in the UK at DF prices to Amsterdam and Tobacco is cheaper there than the UK. But prices vary from one european airport to another. I wouldn't dream of buying Duty Free in Confusion De Gaulle as it's just too expensive.
