Water in sink/bath/washing machine draining REALLY slow

Hi
I moved into this (council) flat 1 month ago, from the day dot my sink water was draining really slow, so the day after I loved in I called the council to report it as a repaier, then the very next day, as I was doing a wash load in the machne and washing up in the sink my sink became virtually blocked (it would take half hour to drain half a sink of water) and I had to empty the washing machine mid cycle as that stopped too, leaving my clothes in manky water _pale_
Anyway, I had a plumber come out and he used his plunger thing and unblocked it, after saying that it was probably blocked because of grease and that I should be more careful! Erm the day before he came was the first day I had actually cooked a meal and it was only a steak cooked in frylight!

So, he unblocked the sink but said the water was still draining a bit slowly, which it is.
There are still problems, it still drains rather slow, my bath drains rediculously slow and every time I put the washing machine on, the kitchen sink gargles and gives off that manky rotten egg smell :(
Also my clothes come out of the washing machine hot, I don't know if ths has anything to do with it.

Can anyone shed any light on what the problem might be so I can report back to the council with more info?

Try some soda crystals around 80p at good supermarkets/home bargains/wilkos

Soda Crystals are an excellent multipurpose cleaner, ideal for removing grease and dirt as well as unblocking drains. Soda Crystals are available in powder form or as a liquid in a trigger spray for easy application.

It maybe the drains are blocked further down though and may need to use some drain rods

Try going outside and lifting the lid on your inspection chamber. Flush loo, run water in sink, run water in bath etc etc on a serial basis and observe what comes out of where for each one and at what rate. I'd be suspecting a blockage underground first anyway and doing this allows you to eliminate or confirm same at the outset. If it is a blockage underground the soda won't clear it.

    Cheers

If I knew what and where an inspection chamber was, I would. I live in a 1st floor flat, will that make a difference?

if your hot water comes from the emersion tank then it sounds like either the hot and cold pipes have been put the wrong way so to wash your clothes your machine is using cold water , heating it up and then using hot water to rinse , this is an extremely expensive way to do your washing , if you or the landlord can see behind the machine then it should be a case of changing the pipes around , 10 minute job at the most

Ahh my Uncle plumbed it in, I just pulled it out and it was on the hot pipe!
    Thanks.

You should still contact your landlord and get the drains cleaned. It is likely that previous occupants have been putting fats or similar down the waste pipes.
