Returned item and just received it back as return to sender.

Hi,

Just wanted some advice please, I purchased a lawnmower part a few weeks ago and although it was for my model of lawnmower it didn't fit so returned for a refund after asking the seller if this was ok. Anyway, sent it recorded and it has just been returned to me as it wasn't called for. Do I have to pay to return it again and what happens if it isn't called for again?
Thanks for reading.

If you haven't heard from the seller, you could try ringing to explain.

If you file a dispute, if the tracking of the returned item shows online (attempted, failed, delivered, refused or in your case RTS) then you will win a dispute.

File the dispute with Paypal NOT ebay.

What does the online tracking say?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Hi, thanks for replies. Online tracking says returned to sender.

Paypal have got wise to sellers refusing returns.
Raise a dispute in Paypal, (not ebay), you should win without having to return it again.
The seller will have to organise collection if they want it back, or at least pay you to re-pack it and post it.
  • Ok thanks, I had messaged the seller to see what he said he's just replied that I will have to send it again or sell on eBay. I will definatley open a dispute through paypal now so just hope I get my money back as it was £30 something that I don't want to lose! Thanks again for your help.

Make sure that you put the tracking into the dispute so that they have all the facts right away.
  • Hi again,
Sorry to be a pain, I've just logged into paypal to open a dispute and not too sure what to do. I've gone to the resolution centre and the options are: not received item, received wrong item and unrecognised payment. Do I choose received wrong item and then say its returned straight away and add tracking in there? I've never done this before and don't want to get it wrong! Thank you again.

Yes, make sure it is a Paypal resolution and that it hasn't directed you back to Ebay. Then open it as 'received wrong item'.
  • Thank you, will do it now and hopefully finally get the refund.
  • If and when you receive your refund, make sure that your seller pays you upfront for the postage to return their goods and also the cost of the postage to cover the cost the 1st time that you sent it back to them.
They probably won't be happy about this, but that's their problem as they had the chance to collect it from the Post office or get it redelivered but failed to do so.
