Bill from npower (I'm not with npower)
We moved to a new rented house on 14th May and arranged for Scottish Power to transfer us over from our old house to the new one (I'm aware of the SP price hike and we're dealing with this). SP confirmed that from the 14th they would be billing us for gas & elec at our new property.
Today, a final bill arrived addressed to me from npower who previously supplied the gas & elec. If we've on SP's tariff since the day we moved in, how can this bill be our responsibility?

You need to look at the dates (and readings) on the NPower (final) bill and then the Scottish Power (opening) bill when it arrives.
If the previous supplier to the property was NPower, then the moment you moved in and used power a "deemed supply contract" is created (with NPower). You are then immediately free to switch, which you have done. Normally that process takes between 4 to 6 weeks to complete. I am surprised that Scottish Power advised an "immediate" transfer. Perhaps they meant "14 June"?
I think *probably* that is what has occurred.0 -
Hi Tyfelt,
When moving in to a new property it is likely that you will have to pay a bill for ashort period from the previous occupiers supplier as any transfer of gas and electricity takes at least 28 days.
If you are unsure about this bill from Npower e-mail me your ScottishPower account details to onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com and I will make sure that the dates and readings match what we have.
Kind regards

If the transfer has not yet gone through despite what was said to you then as above you may be billed by Npower from 14th to transfer.
If however you are saying that transfer did go through from 14th & Npower have simply put your name on a final bill - which is in fact owed by the previous tennant - it's not your responsibility.0
