Painting error. Advice needed

Options
Had my walls done with lining paper, all looked great.

I painted the walls with Dulux Ivory Lace matt,, brilliant. Ran out of paint and went to purchase some more. Started painting the adjacet wall with the new paint and then touched up some areas with it.

Then I noticed a shiny blob when I touched up. Was puzzled by it and then looked at the tin. It's SILK.

I feel like such an idiot (It's been a long week).

Can I go over it with matt or will it crack? I'm not a fan of silk at all.

Can anyone advise? I see there is another post on a similar topic but as my walls have lining paper I'm not sure if this changes anything.

Thank you

you shouldn't have any problems , give it a sand down with fine sandpaper - not too coarse , i would give it a few days to really dry out before repainting , do a test area first and see how it goes

I have just done this very thing! Glad to know I am not the only numpty on the block!
I have spent hours on the internet. It seems to me the problems (like crackling) might only show up later.
Someone on here advised me to sand - an alternative being to coat it with a primer
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3376180. Apparently ordinary undercoat will do.

I'm torn between doing one or t'other or both. But the prospect of sanding half a wall does not appeal even with my super duper electric thingy.
    Sigh ...
Please can you post on here what you did that worked (or not) and I will do the same.

I considered this. However I also touched up a matt wall with it and in a certain light, it looks like grease patches!
ps I'm wondering if it makes a difference whether the silk error was vinyl or plain emulsion.

No matt over silk cracking occurs as the matt is drying out.

    It was me. :o

Sanding it doesn't mean scratching it to death with your super duper electric thingy it means take your sheet of medium/fine grade abrasive paper and give it a light abrasion by hand to provide a key. Sledgehammers are not always necessary to crack nuts.

It will because it reflects the light differently if nothing else. You need to do the whole wall.

While I was away once my Husband redecorated the living froom with vinyl silk. It was easily painted over with matt on my return!
