advice required

hi all - need some advice.

i sold my house last year and i had replaced some glazing units. After researching some work at my new house, i now realise i overlooked some glazing safety requirements at the old house. One window was probably around 700mm from the floor and should be safety glass but i did not specify safety glass at the time - i had a guy make the units up and I fitted them.

what should I do - should i inform the new owners and offer the pay for a replacement? Obviously the safety aspect is playing on my conscious.

    Although I can't answer for your conscience, the law is buyer beware. Assuming you answered any questions truthfully about installation dates, they should have either asked for a Building Regs certificate, or a FENSA certificate which effectively replaces the need to get the council to do a separate certificate. If they didn't take the trouble to ask for this, then that's their lookout.

    When we bought this house two of the windows had a bar across about 20cm from the window sill; apparently because the windows should have had safety glass but didn't. The bar meant that they got signed off for building regs. It looked like a clothes hanging rail attached to the frame at each end, rather than anything made specifically for windows.
