How to stop unwanted calls from another person

We keep on getting calls from an old lady who keeps on dialling our number by accident. At least once a day! We're getting to the point now where it's driving us insane! We've got her number. I thought we could register with the telephone preference service but this looks like it's just to stop companies making marketing calls rather than individuals. Looks like we have to pay for the service as well. Can anyone offer us any advice please?

If your service provider is BT. their Choose to Refuse service would be ideal. I expect other providers have similar services.
I believe there is a monthly fee but, after a few months, you could probably drop the service.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Is it not possible to ring the old lady and ask her to put the number she wants on 'speed dial' or something similar? If she doesn't know how to do it, ask her to get a relative to phone you and explain the problem to them and ask them if they can do it for her.
I'm sure that being pleasant with her could save you a few quid by not having to pay out for BT's expensive service."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
