Computer very slow Starting up ?

Recently I purchased a 3 in 1 printer scanner etc and after installing it my computer now takes ages to start up.
It has installed an icon on the bortom right tool bar automatically, even though I dont need this icon, I assume that this has slowed it down.
I know i can hide the icon when its not in use but can I get rid of it altogether? and any others that I have in the tool bar.?
