Can't think of a title so....

I have no gas until Tuesday and need tips on what i can do for New Year dinner that doesn't need cooking :o I have a gas cooker, it's times like this i wished it was electric grrrr

I'm tempted to nip to the shops and get a combo microwave in Argos today but want to know if you can cook roast dinners in them and how? :o

I got a Delonghi combi micro from Argos and cooked a ham in it this christmas. I probably haven't utilised it as much as I could but it has micro, grill, convection or a combination. It was worth the money I think as after this christmas I will probably use it a lot more.

Would a slow cooker be cheaper? Lots of recipes in the index for cooking complete meals in one.

  • What else do you have at your disposal? Is your hob electric or gas? Do you have a slow cooker? Can a neighbour help out? Do you have a microwave?

Does it have to be a roast dinner? It seems like a lot of money to fork out for one meal. If you have a working hob, you can make for example, pan fried chicken with mash, sprouts and carrots. I think you can get frozen yorkshire puds that go in the microwave?

If you don't have a hob at the moment but have a slow cooker and microwave, you could do a steak or pork stew and do your veggies in the microwave?

  • Do you have a dishwasher? You can cook all sorts of fish in it, including whole salmon. :)

    ..............
  • Have a look through the recipes on the links in this thread.

If you have a hob or microwave, you'll only need to do the meat in it.
