Better to be mindful and slightly paranoid than ignorant to the possible risks.:A

I may be wrong but i think in most European countries it's the norm for women to have a smear test done yearly, so no, you're not being paranoid! It's worth getting it backed up with an HPV test, too, IMO, though the nhs as far as I know do not offer this.0

I used to live in Spain and I had it done every year (on the NHS equivalent), I also went to a private gynecologist a couple of times and it was much simplier and cheaper than here.. a proper gynecologist would do the smear test and other basic checks and the total bill would be around 100€.0

Just in case anyone is interested, I found this website:
http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/CancerCauses/OtherCarcinogens/InfectiousAgents/HPV/thinking-about-testing-for-hpv
It's very interesting, it says it's not really necessary to be tested every year unless HPV is positive. I checked the Harley street clinic and it costs £195 for both the smear test and HPV, so I might do that and if I'm lucky and both are normal, I can wait 3 years

Hiya,
I get mine done on the NHS every year, i thought this was the norm?. I would ask the gp due to your family history that you get one more frequently. If your gp is not happy with that you can go to well women clinics/family planning clinics in your area for free instead.

If you're getting one every year on the NHS then you must have a specific reason as the normal recall is every three years. All smears are checked in the same place so it wold be picked up that you gone more quickly even if you went to a clinic rather than GP.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
