How to stop cats using my garden as a toilet!

The flat I live in has a shared drying area and a couple of years ago I spruced this up and built a raised bed, which is flourishing.

However, over the last few months a cat has turned it into a toilet. I've tried everything I can think of - holly leaves, egg shells and a foul smelling cat repellant, but it's worse than ever.

I really want to get it sorted because my nieces like to dig around in there when I'm hanging out the washing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dont give up on the commercial cat repellent. DH bought some from B&Q and it STINKS of garlic ... its a spray (sorry, gave the remains of the bottle to a neighbour) but I do remember it had GARLIC written on the bottle. Anyway we did the treatment weeks ago and the cats have not been back.

i had the same problem and the best thing i found was putting orange and lemon peel around the plants /soil- cats HATE the smell and keep away - also its a natural thing so wont harm the cat - kiddies etc and smells nice - does need replacing once a week but good excuse to keep eating fruit lol - even now my kiddies thrown the peel around the flowers!

We have had this question before, and before that too. Look it up on the search facility if you fancy a quiet evening in. :D

Me, I like cats.....more than rodents, anyway. :)

:rotfl: That's half the trouble, searching, scrolling through, reading, scrolling through, getting sidetracked, reading, scrolling through ... I'm fairly sure I've lost a whole week of my life in one sitting that way :o

I planted Chives. They are the onion family, so have kept the cats away from my garden and have pretty purple flowers. Originally I bought one plant from the supermarket and devided it into four which I planted along the border.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Over the weekend I put on more holly and more cat repellant and so far so good!
