EDF Online S@ver V7 - Check Your Bills

For those on this tariff you will be aware that EDF initially charged customers the wrong tariff rate. Rather than recalculate bills they made an adjustment that they described as a goodwill payment on the latest bill.
For my electricity bill their adjustment was near enough OK, probably as my electricity consumption doesn't vary much month to month.
For the gas bill however, when I recalculated my bills based upon my total consumption since switching I found that they had still overcharged me by almost £100 - probably due to my gas consumption being much higher over the winter months when they were charging the wrong tariff.
I phoned up this morning (and got through after 10 minutes in the queue) and they couldn't have been more helpful - listening to my calculations, agreeing them with a manager and then making an adjustment to my account and amending the future direct debits.
Given the size of the overcharge in my case I would recommend that everyone on this tariff does a similar calculation themselves and contact EDF if necessary.

EDF wrote a couple of months ago saying that they had been using the wrong tariff and would make a goodwill payment based on average use on my next bill.
I just received the bill yesterday. It showed that I was £110 in debit, but my gas use was almost exactly what I predicted it to be when I signed up to the tariff last year.
I calculated what I should have been charged if the tariff had been applied correctly in the following way
N days x standing charge 24.37p(ex VAT) from joining tariff
plus
total kwh used from joining tariff x 2.639p (ex VAT)
gives total charge for gas
less
direct debit discount (total charge for gas x 6%)
and
£2 per quarter dual fuel discount
= nett charge (ex VAT)
then add VAT at 5%
I then calculated the payments that I had made plus the £25 new customer discount applied to my account and found that I was actually only £12 in debit rather than £110 per the bill.
I went through these calculations on the phone and EDF agreed them and made a £98 adjustment to my account."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
OK thanks,I'm sure I didn't receive that letter I will have to ring them and enquire0
