Alliance and Leicester Overdraft Matching

Hello,

Hope this is in the right place.

I'm all set to open an Alliance and Leicester Premier Direct Current Account to take advantage of the 0% overdraft and cash back. However - I've been reading the small print on the website and it says that to consider matching your current overdraft you must of been in credit for 2 days that month. My account hasn't been in credit for a while sadly. Has anyone managed to get their overdraft matched without having been in credit that month (or the previous few)?
Card 1 = £1638.27 - 16.9%
Card 2 = £6790- 0% until 31/08/07
OD 1 = £927.51
OD 2 = £1103.97 - Current Acc. This one will go up and down as I use it.
Loan = £4580.95 £146.30 per month (fixed) Final Payment Date 06/01/10

Total - 01/01/07 = £15,992.07

Proud to be dealing with my debts

£2 Savers Club - £6

Money from anything Challenge Total- £19.22

Not that I am aware of. If you cant meet the criteria then you get an interest free overdraft of around £300 or so.

Alliance and Leciester in my view are woefully useless in this area and only offered a £300 overdraft and as a result I don't use their account.
Even though I provided evidence that my Barclays overdraft facility was several £1000's higher than their offer they still refused to match it.

    Did they give a reason?
  • Thats a !!!!!!. Oh well, no interest free OD for me unless I can borrow a bit of cash from someone for a week or so.

When I applied for mine back in April, I suddenly realised that I hadn't been in credit at all for the last month - usually I would have been for a little while at least, but due to a few factors I wasn't. Oops I thought, so was about to transfer some money over from my savings, but before I got round to it they approved me quickly and gave me a £900 overdraft. I don't think I gave them my old current account details, so they can't have looked that way, and they never asked for any statements. I can't even remember if I told them the overdraft on the old account - if I did, it was £1000.

[Possibly relevant context - at the time I was earning £22500 in a job I had been in for about 6 months, I have a good credit history, never missed a payment but have had a few credit cards, mobile phones, etc and a £12000 student loan. At the time I was living at home where my address had been for 12 years, so there's a very good total household income courtesy of Dad, and everyone at the address has always had a fine credit history AFAIK]

So you may be lucky. You could apply, then see how it goes. You could pre-emptively put some money in the account to make it look good, if you have some available funds.

Their excuse was that I was a new customer and hadn't been with them for a year.
I pointed out that the matched overdraft was a part of my new account,it still cut no ice.
I just use their cc and don't bother with the bank account side at the moment.

If the account has a minimum finding clause then make sure you meet that or they will will penalise you.

It's not part of the account, it's part of their 'Premier Switching Service', details here and conditions here.
