What is the point?
I have tried finding a place for my daughter to save her pocket money/birthday money/christmas etc and have been looking for 2 years now.
Accounts earn less than .5% normally
Banks are never open after school or Saturdays unless we drive her to a town center pay to park. Its all cost I can't afford times are hard here.
Today I thought OK, lets do it online, so moneysupermarket pointed me to Santander at 3% with an extra 2% as I have an account. Great. Except I have to drive to the bank pay to park and ask for details as Santander do not advertise the Youth Plus Account or show details in the website, and won't tell me on the phone, the conditions are not obtainable.
Does anyone know anything about this account? So I know whether to bother with the journey to open it?
How much per month do parents have to transfer?

If any institution can not supply the account details and terms & conditions when you ask for them either on the web or in printed form, Never put any money into it, no matter how good the interest rate is!0

Is this the Youth Plus Account?

Note 1 towards the bottom says ..
Note 1 - 3.00% AER/ 2.96% gross. To be eligible for this rate you must pay money into your account at least once a month and not hold an existing bank account with Santander. We will not pay you interest on any amount over £500, or on your whole balance if you do not make any payments into your account each month0 -
