Remember the launch Santa games for the £500 holiday vouchers, Virgin Experience Days, and more?

The winners cheated on this game anyway, so you wasted your time playing. Want proof? The 1st and 3rd winners of the Co-Op Travel game are CoolNicks and CoolNicks.ne. Now, try to log in to the game as CoolNicks.ne

You'll see you can't because it's too many letters. This game was pretty easily cheated. I chose not to cheat to win as it would be like stealing, but it's a shame that others did. I have a feeling all the winners of the various games cheated. If they played legit it would be statistically near impossible for CoolNicks to get #1 and #3, then for D. Clapham to get top leaderboards for both the Virgin game and the Co-Op travel one (and others?)...

I hope they can weed out the cheating winners so that the legit players get their prize, but I don't think they can. The system was too easy to cheat and look real.

What a shame.

If the sites had entered all participants into a draw regardless of score it would have been much fairer!

Oh well - at least I didn't waste time on it.

i played for ages but was no way near the scores and i thought i did good, lol, i dont get how you can cheat at stuff like this...im not that clued up???? its a shame for the ones who play fair though

It's a case of back engineering the flash and resetting some of the code.

All of these kind of competitions that require you to get the highest score seem to get people cheating in them. There was a Felix competition not too long ago and some people had completed all the tasks (about 6) in 1-2 seconds! Apparently it was done by slowing the timer in flash down. I tend to avoid these competitions now.

I wonder if they ever investigate the cheaters though, or do they just get away with it? I figure the marketer doesn't really care, they're getting paid by the sponsor. Then the sponsor just gets a list of emails saying "jim at jim@yahoo.com" won 1st place, and they give out the prize it seems. I don't really see any motivation for caring if someone cheats on these games.
