Is there an overtime limit per month?

Is there a legal max amount of overtime workers in UK are allowed to work each month? My gf's company is expanding rapidly and she's been offered as much as she likes, but a colleague told her there is a 'max hours per month' rule to uk workers, is this true??

he is probably thinking of the working time directive. 48 hours max avergaed over a 17 week rolling period, but she can opt out if she wishes. (May already have!)Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Thanks Emmzi
so gf could write a letter opting out of the 48 rule, and she could volunteer for as much as she wanted? Is that right?0 -
thats about 9 hrs a week so I guessing she never opted out so that would take her over 48 hrs assuming she does 40 a week at present so no she can't do more than 40 hrs a mth0
