I never said I'd GET a solicitor. Interesting that you all jumped on that one. I said I'd want to know what reparations they would make before I consulted a solicitor...not that I would ever follow it up with one.

You said "before I see a solicitor" - what do you expect people to think?

Dont worry, just have a look at some of their posts.

Their most recent worst excesses appear to have been removed, thankfully.:D:o

    Um, seriously?

    *shakes head.

So, because I have an opinion and have pride in my professional status I must be someone else and not me?

    Yes. Seriously.

    *raises eyebrows*
Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger

Whoah, steady on there. You were getting close to sounding like them, getting closer now as well. Argumentative, confrontational just take as the light hearted comment it was (by someone else as well by the way!).

NEWS FLASH - there is more than one opinionated person on MSE. They are not all the same person. /NEWSFLASH.

I'm not being argumentative; I'm merely saying I have pride in my professionalism and would be fuming if anyone but anyone was [behind my back] suggesting that I was underperforming to a third party.

  • I know and it wasn't me that said it. I agree you should be proud of your professionalism. It was just heading in a direction we have seen very recently with the other poster.

??? What direction - that of people having differing opinions?

I'm happy to be the only one standing up saying they would be fuming. I don't have any problem with the world and his wife going against me saying that they would get over it and move on. For one, SarEl reported a poster on here earlier this week for merely suggesting that their motives were not honorable and I would put a shiny pound coin on SarEl and others not putting up with the sort of behaviour from a previous employer [not having a go - it's just a recent happening so is fresh in my mind] - so I do find it a little bizarre that people are saying to just move on when they would probably not do so themselves...just because this is a forum and the tendency is to 'have a go' at OPs for asking what really is a pertinent question regarding confidentiality.

Nobody was having a go at the OP for asking the question, we were (at least I was - can't speak for others) havnig a go at you for going completely over the top in your response.

I made the Eskimo comment to try and lighten the tone, but you're clearly not in a place where you are going to allow that to happen, so ahm oot.

PS. This hasn't happened to you by any chance has it? ;)

It obviously went over my head, no idea who Eskimo is so evidently lost on me...the same place your final line is going and no, it hasn't. It is happening to the OP's wife though, can we please remember that...

I don't call calling HR and asking for an apology OTT. But hey ho.
