British Gas-please help me I am in a muddle quickly
I need help quick guys.
I changed energy suppliers in May 2011 this year to British gas dual fuel web saver 11 (online).
I have been told by British gas if I change supplier I will have an exit fee. Is this correct because there prices are being put up by electric 19% and gas 22%. Eon have said that they should not be charging an exit fee as I want to change to the fixed price 5.
If that is the case the gas is coming out of the house and I am switching back to a multi-fuel burner. I have stopped caring about the environment. They cannot control our lives!!!

Plenty of threads already on this.
They can't charge an exit fee if you tell them you are leaving due to the price increase, and your new supplier notifies them within 2 or 3 weeks.0 -
Hi mary1 - So far as the BG's price rises are concerned that have been much heralded in the media, wait until you are personally advised of these prices by an Email or letter from BG.
From the date you recieve this notice you will have *X number of days to advise BG that you do not accept this new contract and you are going to switch (*X - Some companies allow 10 days, some allow 20, read your terms & Conditions). With this notice delivered BG must maintain your old prices till the switch takes place, nor can they apply exit fees0 -
thank you phoned up0

Thank you all for your help quoted moneysavingexpert. The lady I spoke to was lovely at British Gas so much better than the angry man I spoke to earlier. She said I would not be charged an exit fee.
Thank you all for your help. I was with my previous dual suppliers for 17 years and it took a lot of courage to switch to another company.0
