I'm based in the same area as you and I've booked our holiday for £272 from 29th August.

We've booked Wemyss Bay from Mon - Fri which has cost us £212 for a 2 bed caravan and I've then booked a family room at the Holiday Inn in Fife from Fri - Sun for £60 which includes breakfast.

We'll take our evening meals with us for the time we're in the caravan and will only eat out on the Fri and Sat night that we're at the Holiday Inn. We'll have picnics for lunch and we'll be making the most of free days out with our National Trust Membership.

We booked Wemyss Bay through Parkdean Holidays.

    Hope you find something good.

Hi, we have been camping since mine kids were little and have had some great holidays. You can camp at Park Resorts or Haven but its not cheap in peak season, definitely worth looking at though.

There are also lots of camp sites around that have play parks, pools etc. UKCampsite.co.uk is a great place to start.

An top end privately owned campsite would probably cost you £25 a night maximum so thats only £175 for the week. This leaves you £325 or £45 a day for food and entertainment which is decent enough, especially if you cook some meals yourself.

I wouldnt want to travel too far with little ones. Northumberland has some great beaches but not loads to do if the weather is bad. The Yorkshire Coast is great and there are lots of attractions, especially if you stick to the main holiday areas around Scarborough and Bridlington. I can recommend Flower of May campsite near Filey which is a lovely family friendly site.

We always found that holidaying in the UK when our kids were little was great if the weather was good and they could get onto a beach. Its more difficult if its wet or cold and if you start paying to get into attractions every day your spending money will go very quickly. Thats the beauty of Haven type resorts because the entertainment is all there.

Hoseasons is another website to look at for holiday parks. I have no idea what a static caravan in late August will cost but its worth checking it out. We have been on holiday the last week of the school holidays a few times and find that prices drop quite a bit. I am guessing that a lot of places will be booked up already though so that might limit you a bit.

Good luck, if you need any more advice I am happy to try and help!

    could try here

http://www.haven.com/parks/northumberland/index.aspx (forget it the prices are huge)

Well I have racked my brains & your best bet is guess where - Scarborough.
Contact the Tourist Information Office & give them your dates & neccesities.
They will come up trumps for you. They have all the local contacts in the area.
I really think this is your best bet. Plus easy to get to from the North East.

I know someone with a static caravan at Cahapel St Leonards who was advertising the week you want as available recently, for £375. It's a 6 birth place. I haven't stopped there myself. PM me if you want me to give you the details.

Look at your local sale page on facebook as there is often someone advertising their caravans on there. Also contact the local tourist information where you decide to go and ask for info and vouchers sending for local attractions.
The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T

Camping will be easy to do on £500 for the week. Personally I hated my only holiday park experience. Pounding music to the early hours, parents sitting in groups of four on beer covered formica tables while the kids run around causing mayhem. Truly ghastly experience but the kids will love it!!!
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.
