my cat stood on my laptop keyboard & everythings now upside down making it vvv difficult to use.
any advice much appreciated- ive tried on and off again to no avail

Try pressing the Ctrl+Alt+up arrow, this usually fixes it for me when I come across this.0 -
right click on your desktop. select 'graphics options' > rotation and select the rotation that puts you the right way round0
