I agree with the above suggestions.
Baked potatoes - wash potatoes, slash skin with a knife twice on each side, smear with butter or olive oil, sprinkle with salt and bake in oven. - Delish. I'd do one per person and half as much again unless there are lots of littlies who might just want a half.
Big pot of chilli or curry.
Roast chicken sliced up.
Cocktail sausages.
Sides of cole slaw, grated cheese & baked beans.
Bowls of olives, roasted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, mini soused herrings, slices of salami
melon slices, grapes
Birthday cake

i was told about this the other day. get some of the 3 for £10 steaks and cook in slow cooker all day of party in a bit of gravy. By the time comes to serve it just falls apart and you can put it in rolls. Apparently it does loads of people and makes her parties very popular. I think pork would be good to, maybe with apple sauce.
