Call a company called alternet, they did my expenses etc when i worked for the NHS, really good, all you will have to do is keep receipts etc, post them once a month and then you get paid

    http://www.alternetuk.com/
  • fot more information On unbrella companies have a look at contractor.co.uk . Its for it people but has good sections on the whole LInted thing including IR 35 etc
  • my b/f had this when he was contracting.. it worked out really well although they do take a fee, and he was paying minimal tax etc.. when he wakes up I'll get the name of the company he used and pass it on :)

  • I use Giant Powerhouse and find them excellent. Have a look at giantgroup.com.

If you want to go with men, you can if you like pm me and we can split the "recommend a friend" comission. Only if it suits you though!

contractoruk is a decent website but personally, I do find it difficult to penetrate all the "silliness"
  • I use Parasol who seem fine so far. The company I'm doing the work for recommended several and I chose Parasol based on charges and the fact that I felt the person I spoke to knew what they were talking about....others sounded like they knew less than me which was a worry.

Parasol are definitly recommended by the PCG body.. There's also the AEMC body which recommends crystal umbrella and atlantic umbrella. I'd go with the recognised organisation such as parasol, crystal umbrella and atlantic, at least you know that these umbrella's had to gain credability to become a member of PCG and AEMC

Just be aware that HMRC are currently going after umbrella companies with a vengeance so anyone who is using one may end up with a bill for NI and Income Tax on the expenses they've been offsetting.

For £40 though, you can buy a Ltd company off the shelf and do the accounts yourself, paying an accountant a couple of hundred quid a year to sign them off. This will cost you at most a few hundred quid a year which is far less than you pay these umbrella companies for doing the same thing.
