What can I get to treat mouth ulcers? I seem to be having a lot of them lately (lack of sleep) and the product I used to use that was fab (Adcortyl) is no longer sold. I think Bonjela is crap and would prefer to use something that is a paste rather than a gel but I will try anything as I am in so much pain!
Thanks

I've always found Bonjela to be nothing short of amazing. If I'm not wrong they do a new product which is more solid. I'd suggest a trip down to Boots or another High Street chemist and take advice there on what products are currently available.0

Go and see your dentist. There can be hundreds of reasons for mouth ulcers and it is good to rule out anything that might be causing them. The dentist can then prescribe or recommend something for you or refer you on for further investigations/treatment.0

Corsodyl mouthwash is very good. Corsodyl is the brand name it's chlorhexidine mouthwash and you can get this unbranded in Wilkinson. Hospitals use this for mouth problems.0

Corsodyl will drain your teeth brown with long term use.0

Yes Corsodyl will stain teeth but if it's used short term, for ulcers, it should be OK. I've used it often for ulcers and it's never stained my teeth.0 -
I use Anbesol liquid. I use a cotton bud to put the stuff on. As I carry a little pouch with my inhaler in it already, it's no extra bother to put the bottle and buds into it as well.
I don't get many ulcers lately and I've found that the little bottle has gone out of date before I've finished using it.
You have to ask for it over the counter and it isn't that expensive, either. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
i use mouthwash everyday but i still get one of these. what i do to make it heal fast although it may sound hurting myself more i put salt in it! lots of em' the more it hurts for me the faster it heals (my mom taught me this trick when i was like 9 and i screamed when i first did this:eek:). if you don't wanna do this old fashioned method try to use Aloclair Ulcer Mouthwash Treatment. it comes in liquid, spray or gel form.:A work to live or live to work? :A0

Is it lack of sleep or is lack of sleep exacerbating an underlying condition such as gum recession?0 -
I used Adcortyl in Orabase for years and it was the only product that ever really healed my mouth ulcers, I was devastated when I discovered they had stopped making it. I have now found an equivalent which is brilliant and does exactly what Adcortly did, it is Kenalog in Orabase 0.1% - 5gm Tube. It is not available in the UK, but I got it from a company called shopeastwest.com and it was delivered in under a week. Three 5gm tubes cost about £20 but worth every penny.0
