Can I switch without penalty and should I go fix?

Thanks payvpac - so what's the best procedure? Do a "straightforward" switch online using energyhelpline (or any other?), or contact BG beforehand to confirm (persuade) them not to charge exit fee? Any suggestions?
Same question, I will go for the fix then. just wasn't sure if I should go for variable as the savings seemed double but that did not take future price rises into account.0 -
OK, now I'm really confused! Just tried 5 different price comparison sites for fixed. 3 say I'll save roughly £83 a year with edf fixed saver V2, and 1 says I'll lose £240 with the same tariff!! Simplyswitch make no reference to edf, but say ovo energy will save £184 (!?) I know it doesn't take much to confuse me, but I'm completely bamboozled!0

lol which site said you would lose money?0

moneysupermarket!0

lol, yeah just had a look and it said the same, Simply Switch does not even have the tariff up!0

just went to EnergyLinx to get £34 cashback. Going With S@ver 20

So....once the switch has been initiated do we need to inform BG in order to get the penalty waived or is it now an automatic thing ?Without the rain you wouldn't have the rainbows !
I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left!0 -

Absolutely no idea - flying blind here! I'm assuming (I make a lot of assumptions, don't I) that if you suddenly find they've charged an exit fee, then you fight them for a refund. Although I'd rather not do this - I just don't want to be charged in the first place.0 -
I'm going to ring them tomorrow to tell them I am leaving.0

Out of curiosity, did you get a good ovo price from simply switch? And if so, why not go with ovo? Do you know something I don't?!0
